Tentative Good News

After waiting three months, I decided to query a submission I have with Surreal Magazine. Not that 3 months is all that long a time, rather–I have ants in my pants.

I received a response this morning. I will reproduce the letter in full:

Hi, Anthony.

Yes, we do have your story, and it’s currently under consideration. I
apologize for the delay, but we should have final decisions within the
next
couple months.

To a non-writer, this letter probably seems quite dull. To me, however, it brings great joy. Why, you ask?

My story has been held for consideration–that’s why. It has been read (at least once) and they found something in it worth reading again. Which brings me to the title of this post: “Tentative Good News.” My story may end up just another rejected artifact from Surreal. I know this is still a very good possibility.

But for now, won’t you share with me my happy good luck vibes (for you Sury ;-P ), and help me to spread them around to other writers?

Yipes! That was a little sugary for a dark fiction writer.

Congrats, I got one of those a little while ago and it kept me in good spirits until the rejection came.

  2. Keeping fingers crossed for you, Anthony! I sure hope the tentative turns into a definite soon.

I’ll take the good spirits when I can get ’em. I’ll keep you all updated.
