Now what kind of horror writer would I be if I didn’t acknowledge Friday the 13th? For me, this day has little to do with superstition and bad luck. In fact, I tend to celebrate it like a holiday. While not as prevalent on my calendar as Halloween, I still like to have horror movie marathons complete with bloody treats (not real blood, unless I get careless with my knife).
Tonight I plan to screen Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Return of the Killer Tomatoes, and probably some oldies from my 50 horror movie pack.
I know. I’m supposed to watch Friday the 13th. Well, you know what I say to that? Bore-ing! Oh that’s right. you heard me correctly.
Anyway. I guess I have some accumulated news, so a-way we go!
A few days ago I received a 155-day rejection from Aberrant Dreams. I was a little disappointed that it was a form letter, especially since I had made the short list, but I guess thems the breaks.
I’ve added some minor wordage to the novel, but seem to have stalled out the past couple days. I plan to make up for that.
It’s become apparent that I planted my crops a bit too closely. The tomato plants especially have grown together and become one huge jungle of greenery. Despite my lack of knowledge, they seem to be fairing quite well, and all three varieties (Roma, Early Girl, and Sunburst Cherry) have started to fruit. I am also seeing a handful of cucumbers begin to grow, and the Hot Portugal Peppers continue to thrive.
I have also found two types of blueberries growing all around my garden. We have a bunch of low lying blueberries as well as High growing bush types. They have become ripe over the past week or two. I think i might make pie.

Oh heck. While these pictures are loading, I’ll tell you about what is coming in the mail today, and the reason I was thinking of making a fresh blueberry pie.
Today, I expect to receive my brand new ice cream maker.
It’s a Cuisinart that has a freezer bowl so you don’t have to mess with rock salt and ice. I’m really looking forward to making a few batches. I’ll post some pictures in between gorging.
And here’s a question for you all. Would you use raw eggs to make ice cream?
The Ben And Jerry’s recipes I have seen call for raw egg. I’ve done some research on the subject and have come to the conclusion that it is fairly safe, salmonella or not. However, there are recipes that call for you to cook the egg mixture, so I was just curious how you all felt about it.
