A Meme for Meme

Posted on: October 3rd, 2010 by Anthony Rapino 13 Comments

Our good friend Kara, from Random Thoughts of a Writery Girl, has gone and tagged me for a Meme. Well, I can’t disappoint now, can I.

1. If you could have any superpower, what would you have? Why?

I think I’d rather enjoy being able to transform into a 1,000 pound Jack O’ Lantern with invulnerable vines and the ability to shoot exploding pumpkin seeds from my eyes.

You heard me.

2. Who is your style icon?

Since I dress myself in the dark and from a selection of Halloween costumes, I’ll go with my writing style icon.

There are three. Kurt Vonnegut, Chuck Palahniuk, and Stephen King.

3. What is your favorite quote?

I don’t know if you know this about me, but I’m a cheater. And as such, I’ll give you three quotes:

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can’t see from the center.
– Kurt Vonnegut

I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.
– Edgar Allan Poe

Always do sober what you said you’d do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.
– Ernest Hemingway

4. What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?

The best compliment I’ve ever received: “You know, that wasn’t as awful as I imagined it would be.”

It’s worth mentioning that not long after these words were uttered, it did in fact get quite awful.

5. What playlist/CD is in your CD player/iPod right now?

I have hundreds of artists on my playlist, but the most frequently listened to ones lately are as follows: Dr. Steel, The Avett Brothers, Tool, A Perfect Circle, a selection of “Dark Cabaret” artists, Elliot Smith, Nick Drake, The Dead Weather…

Lord, there are so many more.

6. Are you a night owl or a morning person?

I hate mornings. At night I can run naked through the streets.

7. Do you prefer dogs or cats?

They’re both delicious.

8. What is the meaning behind your blog name?

Tales at Twilight was the novella (never finished) I was working on at the time I started the blog. Now it’s just an excuse for teeny boppers to come looking for Team Edward posts and Twilight fanfic.

In short, I need a new blog title.

Ah, now wasn’t that fun? I rather enjoyed myself. And now, I’ll tag a couple lucky bloggers:

Hey! No eating cats and dogs! I suggest you switch to humans; there's too many of us anyway:)

and boy do I hate mornings, too. They come way too early.

🙂 Hehe. If I were to actually answer the question seriously, I love all animals (no preference to cat or dog), so no. I won't *really* eat them. Unless they're teriyaki style.

    I kid, I kid. 😛

  3. Cate Gardner says:

    You're superpower is weird – I like.

Ha! I never made the connection between your blog title and Twilight.

  4. onipar... says:

Thanks, Cate! I've always wanted to be a pumpkin. 🙂

  5. Amanda Borenstadt says:

    Nice super power. :p
Will you grow fuzzy inside if you stay in that form too long?

  6. Andrea Allison says:

I think you're the first person I've ever come across that wanted to be a pumpkin, but it sounds interesting.

  7. K.Hinny says:

Those are great answers, and very creative superpowers!! I am such a hack! 😀 Thanks for playin' yo.

Good quotes too, the Poe one rings perfectly true to everything.

Thanks, Amanda. Well, i like fuzzy pumpkins, so, yes! 🙂

Andrea, you obviously don't hang around the same types of people as I do.

    Thanks, Kara. It was fun.

I was hoping it came across as funny and not just weird, Mercedes. Though a little bit of weird goes a lot a bit of way. :-p

I love the Kurt Vonnegut quote.
