The Story to Month Ratio

Posted on: April 16th, 2010 by Anthony Rapino 10 Comments

2010 is looking up.

There’s always the trouble of caging the brain-trolls that wriggle free and chomp on my gray matter, but I’ve managed it to some extent. And there’s always the herding of stray shadows leaking from my ears, but I’ve maintained.

Luckily, balancing out these atrocities this year is a steady stream of acceptance letters. Yesterday I received a “yes” from Black Ink Horror, a cool print magazine that has an abundance of art along with the stories they publish. The issue won’t be out for while, but I couldn’t resist mentioning the acceptance.

This makes four acceptances in four month, hence the whole “story to month” ratio thing.

I know I’ve “announced” this next bit at least twice before, but with the shock of good news, I’ve decided it might be time to finally put up a proper website. In the past, I’ve never had enough news or publications to really justify dropping money on a website and domain name. Maybe now?

It’s still up in the air. I may wait and see if the lucky streak continues.

You’ll be the first to know.

Congrats onipar!! I am starting to know the feeling myself. 😀

Good luck with the site, can't wait to see it when it's up (if you decide to do it.)

A proper website! Wowsers!…just like a 'real' writer!! Can't wait.
    Congratulations with it all.

I have my proper website even though I don't have much to put on it. Probably why I opted for free over paying for something professional attached to a domain name.

I'm sure whatever you decide to do will be great. Congrats!

    Cate, thanks!

K., I'm talking to my brother now (he's a web designer) about getting the site up. Fingers crossed.

Akasha, Well, I wouldn't go as far as calling me a real writer. I'm still just a faker. 😛

Andrea, Thanks! And yes, free is always best.

It's always so exciting getting acceptances! As writers, there's not much "benefit" (as far as money goes) so it's mostly about validation and pride.

    Kudos!

Thanks, TK. Yeah, the money from these stories aren't paying any bills, that's for sure. 😛
