“An impressive debut. Rapino’s voice and wit turn this trippy, blood-soaked, body-swapper into a screaming good time.”       –Michael Louis Calvillo, author of BLOOD AND GRISTLE

“Fast paced, funny, well written and with a new compelling twist on the zombie, Anthony J. Rapino has created a story that delivers intensity and thrills without lacking great characters. Novels like this make me proud to be a horror writer.”        –Benjamin Kane Ethridge,  Bram Stoker Award-winning author of BLACK & ORANGE

Who knew the end could sound so good.

A suicidal nudist strolls into traffic.  An eccentric Buddhist claims he can occupy other people’s bodies.  All the while, whispers of a new form of entertainment blow through town.  Prompted by these strange occurrences, Marty Raft, a not-so-gentle giant, investigates and discovers underground clubs peddling music that induces an out-of-body experience.   Marty and a wannabe comedian, Corey, set out to prove these special frequencies are nothing more than a hoax, or at worst, a mass-drugging.  Instead, they uncover a secret with world-ending possibilities.

If you can hear the music, it’s already too late.

Hey, gang.  First of all, thank you so so much to everyone who has taken the time to read my contest entry, and comment on it.  The way the contest goes, whichever entry has the most comments and best rating, wins.

Thanks to you, my killer compatriots, I’m currently in the lead.  But there is a full week left, and anything can happen.  So if you haven’t yet read my entry and commented, please do.  I’ll love you forever and ever (or never at all, whichever suits you).  The added bonus is that embedded within my contest entry is a never-before published flash fiction story that I think you’ll like (plus a picture of me looking scary).

Now then, I have some disappointing news regarding my novel, Soundtrack to the End of the World.  As many of you know, I have been publicizing a November release for Soundtrack.  Last night, I was informed that a November release is no longer possible, and a “late 2011” release is similarly unlikely.  The new release date is still very much unstable, so I don’t want to say much more except that it will be out in less than a year.  I dearly and truly hope it will be much *much* less than a year, but again, no firm date was given to me, so it’s hard to say.

On the bright side, I have been in touch with the artist who is doing the cover and the extra illustrations for the special, signed, hard cover edition, and holy crap…this stuff is *amazing.*  The cover design is almost done, and completely blows my mind.  The other work that has been shared with me is equally fantastic and has completely rejuvenated my enthusiasm for the novel.

I can’t wait to show you all the work being done.  I know, I know.  I’m a tease.

Before I go, I’ll remind you once again that the 24th marks the beginning of the Coffin Hop.  There are over 90 author’s participating, which means over 90 contests to enter, and over 90 chances to win.  Now tell me that isn’t the coolest thing you’ve ever heard.

Watch for my post early Monday morning, and enter for your chance to win THE HALLOWEEN MYSTERY BAG!

Oh yes.

  1. {Sad Face} We need an email party…just because.

Meanwhile you’re kicking the contest entry out of the park. Yeah, you! (Hugs) Indy

  2. Thank surely stinketh. But at least the publishing house hasn’t folded. That would really reeketh — and it’s happened to me more than a few times this year with various short fiction markets.

  3. Wait a minute you get a ‘special, signed hardcover edition’!!! Why did I not know this? A shame about the release date but it’ll get there in the end.

Read and commented on the site.

    1. 🙂 Oh yeah, it’ll come out soon enough. I’m just a very impatient boy. Oh, and yes, there will be a limited hard cover edition prior to the release of the paperback. It sounds like it will be *killer!*

  4. Sad news. But hey, good things come to those who wait, right? (my goal in life is to annoy one person a day with a stupid idiom)

Can’t wait to see that cover.

  5. I feel you on this one Tony. Sorry about the bad news, but yeah. Stuff happens.

It’ll be worth the wait for us, though 😀
