I seem to remember promising a mini-review of Dark Wisdom issue #8 once I had finished reading through it. Well, I am finished. This being my first time reading Dark Wisdom, I went into it hoping it wasn’t a waste of money, and I came out of it just itching to send some of my own writing to them.
Yes, it was good. There were a couple pieces that weren’t that strong, but with writers like John Shirley heading the group, how could you go wrong. There was a certain shading of light sci-fi that I am not used to, seeing as how I usually buy horror mags, but there was nothing star-trekkie about it, and really wasn’t all that prevalent. The artwork and articles only added to the professional quality of the mag.
All in all, a cool little mag, one that I will definitely buy again, and certainly submit to.
