The Short List

My short story, “Retired” has been put on the “short list” for a new magazine called Dark Discs. They do not have a website, but if you are interested in learning more about them, guidelines can be acquired through Ralan.com

Here’s the letter I received:

“This was a neat story, short and sweet and to a rather original point.
I’d like to move it to the next round for consideration. This isn’t a letter of acceptance, but an indication we’d like to put it on our short list.”

They pay $25 for a story, which isn’t professional rates, but would be a welcome break in the monotony of rejections.

  1. I know what you mean about the monotony of rejections. Well done on getting short listed.

Read the Plumber, by the way. Liked it a lot.

  2. Keeping fingers crossed for you. Sure hope it gets converted into an acceptance. Your fiction deserves publication.

    Good luck. 🙂

  3. Good news is good news – at the least, it’s nice to hear from someone that they simply enjoyed your work, and want to share it with others. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you for the next round!

  4. wow, that is good news. Being on a short list is better than the list I always find myself on even if most of the letters are the same.
    Congrats,
