Edit Red

I was just informed that I have won the writer’s choice award, for the month of September, on the Edit Red site. The story that won is called “Drugged: A Character Study in Six Parts.”

Edit Red is a critique site where you can create a profile and upload work for other writers to critique. It’s free, though there is a option for a paid subscription that comes with more features.

Also, you can upload your stories as “Private,” “Readers,” or “Public,” so there is no worry about unintentionally publishing your story by uploading it to the site.

This is the contest page (my picture will soon be under the “September” link:

Writer’s Choice Contest

So, apparently, the way this contest works, is that I now choose the next month’s winner, as I was chosen by last month’s winner. There is a Writer’s Choice winner for each month of the year, and then at the end of the year, “all winners of the award will be entered in to the yearly Editor’s Choice Award with a cash prize of $500.” There is also the possibility of being published in their anthology along with the cash.

So, i guess I have a 1 in 12 shot at winning.

Wish me luck!

EDIT: Just a side note. I misread the competition guidelines, and apparently the prize for being chosen as the monthly winner is to be published in the “choice awards anthology” and get a poster of the artwork.

So, in other words, i don’t get any money unless I win the editor’s choice part of it ($500), but my story is published regardless, which, I have to say, I’m a bit torn over. I’ll have to look into this.
