Rain: The Other White Meat.

It’s raining, but I don’t mind very much. Somehow rainy weather is more interesting. Today was one of those days that I had to be out in it. Not just walking to and from the car, but unloading trucks for work, and bringing out garbage. And, okay, walking to and from the car.

As I slid four boxes off the back of a truck and into my arms, a woman ran by, screeching and flailing her hands in the air as if trying to shoo away the rain. She sounded like an approaching, and then retreating, firetruck. I expected to see a swarm of bees following close behind.

But there were no bees.

The truck driver glanced at me and shrugged. I ran my hand through my hair and shook out some rainwater.

About five minutes after going back inside, I was almost completely dry.

Makes me wonder.

  1. I suppose everyone reacts to things in different ways. I don’t mind the rain and have been known to go jogging in a thunderstorm. My wife, on the other hand, won’t even leave the house if it is raining, and if she can help it. C’est la vie!

  2. Thanks for the comment on the ‘Halo’ short story contest.

This entry about rain was funny!!!

  3. Wait, I have just seen thoe tomato photos! Aren’t those belong to species Gardener’s Delight? Caues that’s what WE have and they look like yours.
The only difference is ours being red or at least, orange almost all the way.
    They are the yummiest! Yum.

  4. I like the rain and don’t mind being out in it if I have to be, but I have to say I’m glad it’s not raining as much as it was here. When it rains for like days at a time, I get sick of it.

Thanks for dropping by. Hopefully my story will be posted soon too.

The tomatoes are Cherry tomatoes, and I think they are called Sunburst. They don’t turn red, but a vibrant orange when they are fully ripe. And they are yummy! 🙂

Yeah, sometimes it sucks to be in the rain for too long. But mostly I like it too.

Funny, I was lying in bed early this morning listening to the rain pouring down and thinking how much I liked it, how cleansing rain felt – despite the fact that I was brought up to view rain as something dreadful that had to be shooed away!
But you know what they say – some people walk in the rain, others just get wet. 🙂
