Summer Starts Now

Classes are over, I’m done grading papers, and all my windows are open.  Sounds like summer to me.

For the first time since I started teaching this past autumn, I feel as if I can finally make some writing plans.  Sure, I managed to squeak out a few stories during the past months, but mostly I’ve been writing lesson plans and grading papers.

I had started a second novel not long before I got my teaching job.

A hummingbird just came to my window and checked me out for a while.

I stopped writing the novel at around 25,000 words.  I’m thinking I’ll read what I have and decide whether or not I want to finish it.

I just ate a brownie and Cheerios for breakfast.

If I’m not liking the sound of the novel, I think I’ll go ahead and write a new one.  I’ve been wanting to write something about killer ladybugs.  They fly onto your shoulder, and when you make a wish and blow them away, they grant the wish in some devious and twisted way.  I’m going to write a spinoff of Killer Ladybugs From Hell about dandelions.  Same premise, only, you know, with dandelions.  Also, they’re zombies.  Zombie Dandelions From Hell.

After the inevitable success of my “From Hell” series, I’ll write a final third installment: Killer Ladybugs meet Zombie Dandelions *in* Hell. Promotional bobble heads and tee shirts available soon.

Hey.

That humming bird is back.

  1. Your a “nut”, but a lovable one in a horrifying way.<–so wrong on so many levels, kind of like diabotical ladybugs and zombie dandelions ;).

In Native American lore, when a hummingbird greets you, it means your blessed, usually after a accomplishment. Seems right on the money on all fronts. (Hugs)Indigo

P.S. I'd offer to beta the new book, but you know my circumstances. Maybe after the summer? If your still looking that is.

    1. Thanks, Indy. 🙂

No worries on the beta. I won’t have a finished, readable manuscript until closer to this coming autumn anyway. At least, I hope so.

  2. LOL. You are a nut. Make peace while you can. B/4 you know it, fall is back. Yeah, misery loves company.

  3. Nutty is just another word for original 😉 I rather like the idea of evil ladybugs. I can say for certain that I’ve never read a book about that before.
