Uprooted Chapbook Contest

To celebrate the preorder of my chapbook, UPROOTED, (see the last post for more information on the exclusive preorder bonus) I’m hosting a big ol’ contest.

UPDATE: With four days left to enter the contest, odds are still really great.  If you haven’t entered yet and don’t want to put much effort into trying to win, you can get the easy single-entry by simply commenting on this post.  I am also adding a few more surprises for the big winner, so enter while the entering’s good.  Or something.

Before I drone on and on, why not cover the prizes.  The grand prize winner will receive the following:

  • A handmade tie dye shirt of your chosen size (we have over 200 shirts from small to extra large, including a few kid’s sizes and sleeveless).
  • A horror magazine from my collection (I have issues of Cemetery Dance, Shroud, Weird Tales, Grave Tales, Apex, and many more)
  • Free access to the exclusive preorder bonus materials for “Uprooted.”  If you have already preordered my chapbook, you’ll receive a second horror magazine of your choice in place of the preorder materials.
  • Remember those seven exclusive signed “Uprooted” bookmarks that you can only get by being randomly selected after preordering?  Well, I hid one away to give to the winner of this contest.
  • An Apex Publishing bookmark.
  • A “Last Gasp” sticker
  • One of my pet rubber rats.  His name is Frank.

Not a bad haul, eh?  Now, if we get more than fifty (50) people to enter the contest, I’ll also give away a second prize:

  • One horror magazine from my collection
  • A sticker from The Cult (Chuck Palahniuk’s fan site)

You can score up to five (5!) entries to the contest.  Here’s how:

  • 1 Entry:  Simply comment on this blog post
  • 1 Entry:  Tweet the following comment, or a similar one of your own construction.

“Enter the Uprooted #contest and #win magazines, a tie dye shirt, and more! https://www.anthonyjrapino.com/2011/uprooted-chapbook-contest/”

  • 3 Entries:  Write a blog post about the contest

Once you have completed your desired entry methods, just send an e-mail to HorrorWriterContest (at) gmail (dot) com.  In the e-mail, leave your name, the username you posted your blog comment under, and your e-mail address so I can contact you if you win.  Also attach links to your blog post and tweet if you did those entries.

The contest will run until the end of the preorder window: March 13th, 2011.  At that time I will assign all entrants unique numbers (varying depending on how many entries they have) and use random.org to choose a grand prize winner and second prize winner (if we get more than 50 entrants).

Good luck!

The fine print:

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning.

TIMING: Contest begins at time of this post and ends at 5 p.m. EST on 3/13/11.

DRAWING: The drawing will take place within 5 days of Contest end.

NOTIFICATION: Potential winners for the prizes awarded at the conclusion of the Contest will be notified by email within about 6 days of drawing, and must reply by email within fourteen (14) days of email notice.

    1. Thank you , Kara! It’s been a great launch so far, and it’s been less than a day. I do hope everyone enjoys and takes part in the contest. I’ll probably add some more prizes as it goes on. i already thought of adding in a couple mouse pads to the prize list. 🙂

  1. The website looks wonderful! I second Kara – happy sales! I know why I’m entering your contest. I retweeted your contest Tweet, too!

I’m really here for the rat. He’d love to live in my office. I know he would. 🙂

  2. And because I have nimble fingers that cut and pasted while I wasn’t looking and I didn’t check before posting, my comment reads in an awkward fashion. Sorry about that! The whole Tweet mention was supposed to go at the bottom.

  3. I admit it. I’m entering for the tie dye! My brother & I used to tie dye in high school. Fun times!

Love the new site. Those little nooses are adorable. Never thought I would say that sentence 🙂

  4. Wonderful site and easy to navigate..pre-ordered. Wishing you everything positive as always….
