Video Interview

For your viewing pleasure, I offer you two versions of the reader-conducted interview, in which I answer questions posed by you.  Questions include the following:

  • Zombie Apocalypse: Fight or Flight?
  • What music inspired the writing of Soundtrack to the End of the World?
  • Your hair is long; did you grow it yourself?
  • What is your most irrational fear?
  • …and much more!

While answering these question (posted on Twitter, Facebook, and my website), I realized I talk–a lot.  For that reason, I edited two versions.  The first is a “short cut” interview, with a 13 minute run time.  I edited out everything (nearly 10 minutes of content) except for the most basic answers to the questions.

The second version is the “extended cut” interview, with a run time of 22 minutes.  This includes everything from the taping, minus only a few edits made for continuity.

Whichever version you decide to watch, I hope you enjoy!

  1. I think we’re all embarrassed of our early writing! The thing is, though, we all get better as we go.

Thanks for answering. That was actually Tim’s question.

Or maybe he was the one who asked about the pants. Hrm.

  2. PS I listened to the whole thing (didn’t watch the whole time, this time), and at the end there, you sounded a little discouraged. I wouldn’t worry too much about the rambling. I think it’s the nature of these things.

Having two cuts is a great solution.

    1. 🙂 Thanks, Red. Yeah, I think after I was done I felt like I talked *waaaaay* too much. I’m glad you liked the two-cut solution. It was either this, or post the interview in parts. But I figured this way I could edit out all the “excess” for people who just wanted the nitty gritty. 🙂

  3. This video really made me wish I could talk to you in person. Loved your answers (especially the zombie one – very wise). I get the middle in the ocean in the dark too. I’m not afraid of the water, I’m surrounded by it, but it is pretty mysterious and dark and eerie.

Also, I hope you are not naked from the waist down because (and I’m not sure if you noticed this) there’s a cat in your lap.

    1. Ha! yeah, I’m wearing pants. Jerry (my cat) would never forgive me! 😛 If I can figure out the technicalities, maybe I could do a “live writer chat” taping sort of deal. Not entirely sure how it’d work, but it’d be fun.

  4. I just realized that my last post sounded sort of creepy. I just mean your answers are good conversation material. Not a stalker. 🙂

  5. Oh my goodness, he’s so cute :)I love cats! Oh and my toes curled when you mentioned being left in the ocean! I am petrified of deep water! I can’t swim and for me to be out there like that? HUGE FREAKOUT session would be going on, that’s for damn sure, prior to my epic downing scene 🙂
    I enjoyed this, thanks!
